I've got 5.5 now :o and I was going to upgrade to 7.0 in a few weeks, but then my friend (who is one of the PS designers) told me about 8.0 so I will just wait a few months and upgrade to 8.0 instead. Maybe I'll go to the library and get the free 6.0 upgrade ;)) He was telling me some of the new features in 8.0, and it is going to be really amazing some of the things that we will be able to do :P Really looking forward to it.

I use 7.0 on my XP Pro machine. I can't afford to upgrade. :'( I wish I could, but I can't, because I'm saving up for a new computer. If any of you are wondering what kind of computer, I'm looking at a Dell Dimension 2350 Desktop machine.

I had 7.0 when it was in beta. It was good even then.

I might get 8.0 when it's in beta depending on the new features, that will decide whether I want it or not. I don't see why not though...

That is STEALING! Man these programs that allow people to STEAL software get right up my nose.
It is because of these bloody theives that us honest folk have to pay so bloody much for the software. Because adobe has to make something out of the programs that they make and then we get these little wan*ers that just think they can come along and help themselves for nothing.

If you cannot afford to dam will buy it then don't steal it! One thing (as you proberly guessed by now) that really gets up my nose about the net is dam bloody warez. THEY SUCK! I am suprised that the staff on here allow such posts, after all it is Illegal ain't it!

@ Planet IBF: Don't upgrade to PS6, they stuffed the colour burn and colour dodge in that. They did release some updates later which was ment to fix the problem, but wasn't really fix untill the release of 7. That is why I got 7. So if you are using 5.5, stick with that untill 8 comes out.

Yeah I made that mistake. I use to use 5 and then I bought full 6 (not keen on upgrades). But when I went to do some of my graphics I noticed that colour dodge didn't work as it was ment to. I contacted adobe and gave my *legal* serial number (something you theives wouldn't know about), the gave me a link to download an upgrade, which made PS from 6.0 to 6.1, but colour dodge was still the same.
When they released 7 I went to buy it and asked the guy in the shop (that is a legal software shop kaza theives), if I could try it first. Found that colour dodge and burn was fixed and so I bought it. Dunno if I will bother with 8 though as with all the video stuff I don't think I will need.
Does anyone know of a link where I can read about 8 as I couldn't find anything on Adobe last night.

Hey Planet IBF, are ya trying to stir me up? huh huh!

Please do not discuss warez here ... i think it's called warez anyway. but in layman's terms, don't talk about downloading proggies etc from file sharing programs or friends.

not being mean, but certain things can get you in trouble. which is why most places do not allow it.

Sooo.... please don't talk about it ;)

Thanks :)

Anyway I found out this. Just thought others may wanna peep.

The next major upgrade to Adobe's industry-leading graphics editing software, Photoshop, is set to ship in the fourth quarter of 2003. This year will see the release of Photoshop 8.0, code-named "Dark Matter," and ImageReady 8.0, code-named "Taconite." ImageReady will remain a standalone application.

With this forthcoming release, Adobe is targeting the video and digital photography markets. However, its feature set is still subject to change. The Mac OS X version of the new Photoshop will require v10.2, Jaguar.
Specific updates will include: NTSC/PAL/HD preview choices to compliment the existing CMYK Preview, a Histogram palette, nested layer sets, and text on a path. Photoshop 8 will also include "filter layers," allowing for non-destructive image editing and manipulations, similar to Adobe After Effects' adjustment layers.

The upgrade will also have tweaked 16-bit support, improved ability to work with non-square pixels, and significantly optimized and cleaned-up code on both the Mac and Windows side. Sources also noted that Adobe is working to leverage its PDF tools and functionality into just about all of its applications, across-the-board.

Additionally, nearly every other Adobe application is also set for an upgrade in the latter half of this year. This includes Illustrator, After Effects 6, and InDesign 3. In the case of InDesign 3, code-named "Dragontail," the release is specifically targeted for August or September. Dragontail is currently at or near pre-release build number 201.

Well I went to adobe's site the other day to do a read up on Photoshop CS to see what features it has. I saw they had a trial version for download of which I could not resist (all 171 megs of it) and I must say that I am HIGHLY impressed with it.
It has 2 features that I absolutly fell in love with.

1. Text to path. With this you can grab the pen tool (or any tool that creates a path) and make ANY path you like and you can then type txt that will follow the path. AWESOME!

2.When you are using the txt tool it places handles on each side the your word and with them you can drag each handle in turn and good more from your txt shape than just the old silly ark.

Hell I could talk here all night about it, but those 2 I like the best.
They are very cunning at Adobe offering such a major product for download. Because once you have it then you never will want to settle for anyless... needles to say I will most def be buying this.

Oh.. before you download it be prepeared to fill in a huge regi form and then be taken all over their page doing surveys for them. Took me ages just to be able to click a download button.
