Problem with manual install and macros

I am
following the install for manually setting the skin and I keep running
into a problem. When I go to reset the macro name like I am told to do,
it says a error has occured. Could not retrieve record from database. I
am intalling the redgel skin, and I am renaming it to redgel. What am I
missing>? I cant wait till I have done this once, then I wont have to
bother you guys with stupid questions. ANyone know what I am doing wrong?

person finally get their problem sorted :)

You are going to adminCP -> skins
&templates -> macros

then renaming?

It seems a weird
error.... what instructions have you been following?

You
don't have to rename the macro set name, I just said that in the
tutorial so that it is easier to follow, on some servers with safemode
on, you will have problems with renaming some of the files,

on the
server I have, I cannot change the wrapper name for example.

just say to rename so when you go to the skin set and start selecting each
part of the skin, you can just select red gel on each section,

You
can leave the default names for every part, just write the name down, so
when you go to select the wrapper/macro/template/skin directory in the
skin set, you will know which one to choose.

Ok,
then I am going to give it a shot without renaming the macros. I will
follow the tutorial to the letter otherwise. I will let you guys know how
it turns out.
