I have
my board running under a domain name that I want to change. I have the
new name registered. My question is this, can I make a backup and upload
it to my new domain, or will I have to start all over again??? I am
hoping I can do a install, and then use the backup file I made to restore
the board. Anyone???? Also, if not here, where can a guy post questions
like this?

The
best place to get the answer is to head over to the official invision
board forums,
I saw a few topics over there about moving forums to
new servers etc.. and they give detailed instructions on it.

First,
you can make a backup, and then restore the database onto the new server,
which I have not done before, but I think you wither do it with mysqladmin
,phpMyAdmin, or I think there is a function in the ACP in the MySQL
Database Section, where you click on MySQL Toolbox, or something like
that, and then theres something at the way, way bottom that says load from
a .sql file, then you upload it, and it should restore your database. Hope
this helps. :)

M3NF
has done this withour board. It can be done. Get a backup of your database
thru 2 methods.
1) the sql backup tool in AdminCP or
phpmyAdmin
2) manually make a copy of the database folder, so you
can just put all the files back in your new database folder.
But
again, M3NF will be able to give you better help with this since it was
him who actually did it :)
He'll be around at 11am (ish)
