Photoshop 7 Help

I've recently acquired Adobe Photoshop 7 & ImageReady 7. Before that I have used Paint Shop Pro 7. The problem is I understand hardly anything in Adobe Photoshop.

First of all, what is the purpose of image ready? And when I put a PSD onto a background in Photoshop I don't know how to resize it??? I know hardly any of the blending effects.

But most of all I'd like to know how to make a background. A decent background I mean. If anybody has any tips or answers I'd be grateful if you could reply ;)

Damn beat me to it, i saw this post from work, and was going to post that link myself when i got home :P

But that is a very useful post on effect and items.

Helped me alot when learning, and as i learnt more, more links was added. :)
