Go into a DOS prompt.
Start SMARTDRV.EXE
Type in (exactly as shown):
CD \WINDOWS
DELTREE /Y RECENT
DELTREE /Y TEMP
DELTREE / TEMPOR~1 (this one might take a while to complete ;) )
Press ctrl-alt-delete to reboot.
Windows will automatically reinstall everything that it needs to work.
Enjoy
PS- if you listen closely, you might even hear your computer burp :lloyd:

well if you dont want to venture down that road with the deltree business... it would be perfectly fine to delete those files, all they are is cached internet files. for instance, whenever you visit a webpage, it downloads it to your computer... the images and everything, that directory is where it goes.
theres afew things in windows that'll clean it up for you. one of them is, start menu > programs > accessories > system tools > disk cleanup. another is from within internet explorer, tools > internet options > general tab > temporary internet files section. then just click the "delete files" button. next to that is settings, where you can set how many megs windows allows the temp directory to use, i set mine to 100 megs... that way it doesnt get obscenely large ;)

There are many files that won't get deleted that way, including all hidden files, any viruses and all spyware that uses that area to execute from. Using the deltree method is the ONLY way to clean it out COMPLETLY ;)

ah, touche ;) make sure to snag ad aware 6 as well :)
the only thing though, is that if you ahve these files, cookie file, image file (IE.5 folder) it helps the web page come up faster, so lets say i am a newbie at nbs, and its my first time visiting, well my computer needs time to take pictures, links, image, text, etc from nbs website and then turn it into cache files in which personal info, pics, etc are stored, so its all up to you wether or not you want your internet to go faster and come up sooner, or if you dont mind deleting every once in a while, and dont mind slower site speeds then you can delete then, and it all depend on wether or not you need space, last time i deleted temp files, i ahve 82.9Mb worth of disk space cluttered up with website cache files.

I always wanted to know how to spell "touche"
Installaboard yes that is true to a point, but the temp and recent folders can sometimes grow to be way too big, and then the whole computers performance suffers. Also, the temporary internet folder sometimes won't refresh with the latest version of a page (even if it's set to) and giving it a good enema every now and then, really helps ;)

Well at least now I know how they do it :)
But I think Mike is right, that just takes too much effort for one little dot like that ;)
