I am making a huge skin for my music related site (nubreaks.com), it's a very large change to the look of a board, nothing minor. Most skins I see are simple recolors & some minor image work. In my case, I'm likely to spend 3-4 weeks working on mine. My biggest issue is that _testing_ the skin sometimes seems impossible. Getting to every knook & cranny of the site to check that my template editing hasn't blown something up, or created unreadable text, etc... is a ***** :)

So, are there easy ways to test some of the more obscure pages? An exampe being the template segment, under Log In, called 'ShowLogOutForm'... I have _never_ seen that page.

It's driving me crazy! =-]

nonpublic forum with new skin visible at www.forwardbreaks.net/forum -- Feel free to comment on it... I am aware it's very high-contrast... will be making a 2nd skin after this that's more "mid tones" oriented.

Most skins are simple mainly because template editting is not yet stable, when you export a skin and then import it the errors are then apparent.

Yes its hard to make sure that all aspects of the forum run correct like text colouring, as a standard css will not let you specify a text colour for every part of a forum texting, again this is not a hard thing to do, just a time factor.

No really skinning guild is yet made, main reasons are that the template looks like it will go though changes, so making a skin with template changes to much will need to remade when possible a new er beta is released, alot of people will be waiting for the final before they make a skin like this.

We are currently in production of one so skin ourselfs, but we test the skin on nearly every template adjustment, as for what to test, well basicly its every nook and crany :( its does take a long time, and no short cuts to do it.

In time when the final is released alot more people will spend the time making more detailed texted files to show whats changes what.

Just try not to alter to much in the template now, until you check for error on a new import of the skin.

Alternatively check this thread out.

has a couple of great little programmes that you can download which will allow you to test a board with all the changes that you want to make without having to upload it to a server.
