yea, its a usb pci card. hang on ill get you a link... here is a link http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/Se...sb%20pci%20card (http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/search.asp?page=1&keywords=usb%20pci%20card)

Just get one of thoe kinda cards [pop it into your pci slot and let your computer do the rest unless of course the pci card comes with a cd, then you have to do some work.

take off your pc case, and look at the back end of the computer, find a green card(s) and then find an open slot just about or below that card, unscrew the filler plate, the on covering up the slot from the out side in, then grip the card, then firmly push the carn into the slot, most pcs their white, but try not to stick with that becase i've seen yellow, orange, and green also, , so jsut find the green card sticking out and look above and below for a open slot, and then put the new card into on.

Find green card
Look above and below,
Find open slot
unscrew the place holder piece from the back with usually a philips head screw driver,
then grip the card and firmy insert the card into the slot, plug your power back in, (might wat to leave the case off fer a minute of two) then see if your computer accepts the card, if not you'll have to try another slot, in which case shut down, then take the card out and try another slot.

hum...

i do not think that would be a good idea for me to do. i killed my puter recently and this time it could get it's revenge.

is there not an extension lead or adapter that i could just plug into a USB port with more ports on it...?

The simple solution: 4 Port USB Hub (http://www.iwantoneofthose.com/ProductDetails.aspx?product=USBPO4)

I think that's what you're looking for :)
