Some Guidelines Needed =)

-hello guys.I needed a few starting guide lines in skinning .I have some knowleadge on html and php .Also photoshop and curl and flash . Basicaly,i dont know how to star!!! Lame of me :\
But i dont know the basics ..Where to edit the stuff.How to make it all togheter .etc etc .Can anyone give me some pointers? Or an starting tutorial .Much apreciate the help and thx in advance .

I'll tell you how I started.

I downloaded a skin & checked all the style images. all of the buttons & bars are within there along with the logo.

the css can be done via the admin control panel. alway backup the stylesheet or make a new one based on the original and set the new one to the forum itself.

I found that when changing the CSS so i knew exactly what I was changing I would change one thing at a time to yellow or red(stands out like a sore thumb then) & make notes as you go along.

any problems then shout and someone will help out.

but play about, never be afraid to ask or try something, but make copies of anything before you change so if the inevitable does happen you can put mistakes right.

You can know all the language that you need, but the key is to figure out the template layouts ( what template is this in, etc......).

It's always good to make a little map for reference.......what does what on the .css sheets........where the board header and topic screens are etc.

You are right there, but once accomplished theres no stopping you.

A fewf things to always remember are..............

If you are not sure never be afraid to ASK!!!!!!!
No Question is a stupid or silly question when you dont know the answer.
If you dont ask you will probably struggle to find the answer.

It is perhaps better for you to read through there, as you can view it in your own time, then come back and ask some specific questions. it's a bit hard to help with such a broad question.
