Okie.

Last night we set up my new cd burner, K?

So after I installed the software and everything.

I try to burn a cd.
Won't burn

I try 5 cds and they burn but come with errors.

Now I'm hoping my dad will be able to help me with it.

It looks like a connection problem.

You getting any error message, like buffer unrun or something, i know when i got my cd burner i could not use cheap cd, it only work for exspencive ones :( soon took that back hehe, now works on all cd. But maybe check to see if there is a firmware update for your burner. That helped me alot.

Yeah I got that error.

My dad knows alot. He can fix it.

Whats a firmware update? Like drivers?

Yer, you can update the firmware that runs the burner, its more than a driver thou, its a control system for the burner itself. Goto the home page for your model and do a search for firmware.

Try here for more details m8

what software are you using to burn cds? may be a software problem rather than hardware :)

Its ROXIO.

I had one cd rom drive on the same IDE cable as the burner.

I looked and they said to unhook the rom drive (not the burner)

And now it burns fine. :)

Me thinks you are using Nero.. YUK!
Get a propper program.
I had errors like that with Nero for ages and ended up to be nero.
I changed to NTI CD Maker and no errors anymore and I could also use the CDs that Nero rejected. That program is junk.

How can you say Nero is junk, it is just about the most user friendly and professional burning software on the market. I couldn't live without my Nero, hehe :D

Nero is superior but Roxio is quite a good program as well. I prefer Nero over everything for burning cds :)
