Ok, I thought I'd post a link to my former YaPP site where I used to visit often and attempt to hold a "adult" conversation with it's staff.... and let them know I was leaving for this great new portal.

Interesting read. I don't know the staff there and barely know the staff here. But, in the short time I have been here, I have seen no-one talking down toward or about anyone. If that is going on over there, more will eventually leave. I am a team member at a tech forum with over 24,000 members (sorry, it's vBulletin but, my personal site is IBF. ;) ). As a team, we try to treat everyone with respect. If you don't, you will lose the member base. They seem to have a good product, they just have to keep it professional.

Patience. Right now EVERYONE over there is reading it. I am getting pm'd like crazy about this new portal guys/gals regarding what I posted.
Never thought it would cause this much havok over there!

Wow after reading that i fee rather lucky, i guess what i personal comment is that thou IBF was made by matt, he also has a real backing from some great talent to, thats what will make IPS go further.
The amount of people that can code all get there chance by submitting work to ibresourses, which give people alot of credit for there work, A some great addons then are brought into IBF once updates are borught out.
There has been a huge difference from 1.0.1 and 1.1, and with the final due soon, again there are exspected more addon's in the final. This is great when you get used to a new BB you then get more when you think thats all done.
With the amount of staff and the huge backing behind IPS it is going to go forward. Nothing will change that, it has the best scripting and the fastest engine around, and been proved that to.
I think like yourself C_P alot will change, i not up on YaPP but having just one person make the code will be there fall :( as with IBF there are hundred that make mod's and then they are released on IBresourse for all of us to us and see what we think, if there liked they are check for compatablity and released in the new version, so with so many people makeing new add on, there is always something new, and we all love that :)

The mods tend to lock topics that can sway towards others voicing their opinions, unless it makes the staff look good.
Here, you do not need that. You have a nice honest helpfull site.

Tis a shame there must be bickering. after all, you go to a forum to chat and be friendly with ppl. not have more crap. which is what you went to a forum to get away from in the first place :)

Uhh,...uhm...hi. My name is Starmartyr, and I too was a recent YaPPer.
Uhm, thanks to CP, I too will be switching over from YaPP, which I'm doing now. Been with YaPP from the start, and have seen a bunch of immature gripes from too many modders, and admins(sorry for the dis YaPPers :o ). I also have seen many projects/mods started with no follow throughs to complete, or make it simple for novices to understand. Not everyone can follow a 3-page post to find out what the heck just changed in a mod.
So far, IBF has won me over. More organization, and a lot more maturity. Thanks!!!
I will still view the YaPP Project to see where it goes, just as I think it may one day become better.
Until then, cheers IBF! I look forward to using this community for a while. B)

Starmartyr is a BIG win here guys/gals! He has much tallent and is a heck of a nice guy.
I am glad I could be part in the persuasion of him coming over!
I'm sure you will be treated much better here Starmartyr than what was possible over at CraPP. Shoot, did I spell them wrong again? Hey, I think I've earned the right! :rolleyes:

The community is cool at IPB itself and here. Everyone is so helpful and friendly here and I haven't seen a disagreement yet :woot:

No we are all helpful & I have used several other boards and the support has been quite terrifying at times.
On one certain board I was running (They shall remain nameless) when I went to thier support forum I was actually hounded for the question asked.
Since changing over to Invision I have had no such trouble at all.
& all of us are friendly here and its the same across the whole of the Invision Boards tht I regularily visit.

Yes very nice atmosphere here. I have a feeling no matter how many people ask for help on their portals mn3f won't freak out on them, and on many cases he goes the extra mile to set it up for you. I think Arisitia and M3NF, and the rest of the mods really do run the best custumer service all around without even close compitition.

If I may be so bold as to make a observation on YaPP boards. They really hack away at invision, but really, I look at their board configuration, and all i really see is litterally an Ikonboard pieced apart and slaped back together in a different manner that really doesn't apeal. I personally don't like the member bar, looks very disorganised. I'm not accusing anyone of course, i'm sure it was all coded independantly. I really don't like it, All the best to them though :) .
