Does anyone have KaZaA here? And if you do, could you please tell me if you recommend it or not, and why?

I got Grockster, it was recommended to me by a programer. There is a program that scan spy ware called ad aware, if you find you get alot of "illegal operations" on your computer you might want to scan you'll also notice your internet runs considerably faster.

I use kazaa media desktop. I use it for songs,programs (dreamweaver,flash,psp, and Style XP), and for pc,psx/ps2, and Gameboy Advanced games. Very useful Saves money !! :D

Cant agree more, KazaaLite is the way to go.
Ferget Kazaa finish what yer downloading at the moment, get it off the system and wack on KazaaLite.

Then download this file Kazaa Media Finder (http://members.chello.nl/m.de.boer4/) This dumps out the crap(wrongly marked up files) & gives you only what you are looking for, all in alphabetical order for games, films, programmes ;))

Not that I condone that sort fo thing :o hehe....

woooooooo...i got rid of kazaa media desktop...instaled kazaa lite and the thingy chris sugested and even managed to make a skin for kazaa...its a windows xp sliver one

I suppose it depends on what connection you have really, but from what I remember of winmx, everything I tried to get ended up queued up and in the end got fed up with it, I was then introduced to KazaaLite & have never looked back to be honest.

WINMX is old technology their P2P system is very outdated :( With Kazaa Lite I hardly get any waiting time and it includes a virus scanner ;)

I had WINMX and found it to be much slower, mainly because of the lack of multiple sources. It does have one advantage though, no possiblity of viruses because their transfers are to small for viruses or somthing like that.

I use grockster it comes with it's own virus/hacker stoper, but the pop ups are ticking me off. May switch to kazaalite myself.

I use kazaa lite too and something called speed up which automaticaly searches for more sources at regular intervals.

i use lite now with the media finder, it is way better that media desktop, i also used to have WinMX and that i s loads slower than Kazaa!

i have it and got a virus from it but norton was protecting me so dont get it unless u have some kind of protection like a condm might protect u

You'll be sorry if you install kazaa on your computer. M3NF said it best:

Once you install it there is no real turning back. If you uninstall it you will lose your internet connection, and most likely have to reinstall windows. They say that the kazaa uninstaller works but now I've heard that the spyware portion is still embeded in the machine's registry :blink: Do yourself a favor, stay away from it. There are plenty of other programs out there to use ;))

Also some programs when you insert the serial the first time u connect to the net it goes out the thier server to check if its valid and can track you down. Samething with divx movies because if you use the main players such as dvix player or media player or some linux ones it sends info back to the database where people from the company of the movie can check out like your ip and such. Best thing if you want do piracy is use direct connect because their are no servers and its legal if its music and movies because its like sharing the VCR tapes.

strictly speaking sharing vcr tapes, you are only allowed to make back ups and recordings for personal use :D

i use K++, it's a version of kazaa lite that's had additions to it,

i think i got it from kazaalite.tk

oh and are you sure about the serial number thing? I know it was reported last year but that was a hoax

Not a hoax because if you look at divx pro player you have to use the internet to install the rest. A lot of companies have done this but after you installed it and connected to the internet and it gives data each time. I also heard of macromedia doing things with their ids and such but don't really know. Why do you think napser is dead and other are not. Because they are track people somehow, way, shape, or form. I know first hand because i work with the wb (warner brothers). They don't check if you bring a cam in the movies because there's other ways of finding out. they want to catch the people getting them and then the source after. Best to catch 5,000 before the source.
