What do you guys think about the new game consoles comming from the leading game companies?

Originally posted by Nintendo.com+--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Nintendo.com)</div><div class='quotemain'>With its two screens, Nintendo DS instantly shows its innovative face. But capabilities like a touch-screen input, voice recognition and wireless communication set it apart from every other game device, and again demonstrate NintendoÌs passion for groundbreaking originality.

Game players need only use their imagination to see how the DS promises to transform the portable game industry by changing the way gamers relate to their games Ò and each other. Two screens offer two perspectives on the action at once. The touch screen could make accessing items, moving characters or navigating menus as easy as a tap or drag on the screen. Voice recognition could let players simply tell the game what they want it to do. Chat software will let users transmit text messages, handwriting and even drawings to one another. And wireless functions could link players in the same room Ò or across the country. The unique features of the Nintendo DS hold a wellspring of potential for the future. Game players will be wowed.

Sony kicked off another big press conference with lots of anticipation for the new PSP. Kaz Harai, CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment of America, introduced the sleek PSP, discussing features like the extended battery life, improved connectivity, IR data, and Wi-Fi connectivity.

He also showed video footage of games coming for the system, including Hot Shots Golf, Ape Escape, Wipeout, Twisted Metal, Spiderman 2, Need for Speed Underground and a new Tony HawkÌs Pro Skater title.

The PSP uses a high capacity optical device format called UMD (Universal Media Disc) to store games, music and video. Each disc stores 1.8GB and will be regionally encoded.

Expect the PSP to launch in Japan in late 2004, with a US and European release to follow in 2005.

Not surprisingly, Sony announced today that they are lowering the price of the PlayStation 2 console to $149, including the network adapter and ATV Off Road Fury 2. More titles are on the way for PS2, including Gran Turismo 4, Ratchet and Clank: Up Your Arsenal online, Killzone and Jak 3. Sony also discussed the EyeToy's popularity - selling 3.8 million units in just 10 months. Stay tuned for some new games, including Sega Superstars and Dance Dance Revolution.

Finally, Sony announced "Cell"-based systems would be the main tool developers use to create video games. The first prototype stations using the "Cell" chip would be built in late 2004.

I've seen all these things about 1-2 months ago.........
Very promising though, I've seen the DS in action on CNN yesterday, it's great....... They have a metroid game made for it already to utilize the dual screen feature. On the main screen is the regular gameplay and on the second screen is the area/course map.
