Whenever I attempt to edit a section of my HTML Tempaltes, I get this error:

Cannot write into './Skin/s1/skin_forum.php', please check the CHMOD value, and if needed, CHMOD to 0777 via FTP. IBF cannot do this for you.

Does anybody know where I might be able to fix this in my FTP, or on the board itself? Help is much appreciated.

ok do this...

run your FTP ptogram, nav to the skin folder, right click on it and about half way down the menu that pops up you'll see an option something like Chmod, click this option and set it to 777 click all ok's and then try again,
side note......if you read the install file that came with 1.3 it tell's you which files to set the chmod falues for, cos there are a couple more files/folders that need to have this 777 value added to, like the upload folder???, please read the install file....

I'm looking for the install file now. However, I think every file is set to '777'. It doesn't say that the number is the CHMOD, but there's a column showing '777' to the right of all of them. BTW, I'm using cPanel X if it helps.

Mind if I bump this? If ANYONE could help, I'd greatly appreciate it. I pre-installed it using Fantastico, is that helps.. Or does anybody know of a way to contact Fantastico,s creators about this error?

ok i've got the answer your looking for....................

Startup your "Cpanel" on the second row look for "File Manager" click it, then click on the "FOLDER" "Public_HTML", click on the "FOLDER" to your forum (this might be, forum or forums ect) now you have a list of all your forums files amd folders, this time click on the "TEXT" "Skin" (note click the text NOT the folder this time). A menu will apear top right of the page, click on the 3rd option down "Change Permissions" here is were you change your "Chmod" settings to "777"

this should solve your problem, and this is what you need to do if any more "Chmod" problems happen.

PS. you might need to navigate through the "Skin" folder setting permissions as you go...

good luck..... ;))
