Hello! I've read about a few problems people are having with installing v2 skins. so i'm posting the three most common reasons in here for you.
Firstly, unpack the downloaded zip producing two files: skin and images.
Go to your AdminCP > skins & templates > import/export. On the next screen, import options are at the bottom. For the import skin section, choose the files which says skin in it, and for images, the file says images. Once you've imported both your skins is installed, should you get errors, look below for possible solutions :)
1) have you tried uploading the 2 files to your root dir and then using the second option of importing the skin from your root dir, this should solve your problem, this is a IPB problem and we hope they solve it in there next release, this is not a skin problem, i have had the same problem on all skins for this 1.2 release of IPB, so i uploaded the skin via FTP to my root dir and imported it this way via the root dir option, sorry if this has caused you any problems and like i said we hope that IPS solve this problem in the next release......
(thx sprocket)
2) Unpack the .gz files so you get .xml files instead and then try again.
3) make sure you have paired the images with the skin.
in admincp > skins&templates > manage skin set, choose to edit settings on the imported skin and a drop down box will allow you to choose which image folder to use in that skin
