IPB is off the shelf:

Besides that, I hate IPS for numerous reasons.
They've edited my posts because I said vB had much kinder suport. I've only posted Pre-Sales questions but yet, they've banned me. What a crazy group of dictators. :S:
I love the product, but I hate the company. How about you guys?
(Let's put this in the news section!)
LOL! Been there, done that! You sound exactly like what I/have gone through.
FYI, I am a new member of a vB license. not because I liked it better, I liked IBF but due to their lack of support and the way they treat there members and the fooling others regarding their licensing plans.. well anyway, ditto.
You know what is intersting, this new 2.0 seems to now have most the same functionality vB HAS and had before this new release of IBF 2.0 .......

Well, its been coming for a long time now, it was just a matter of when. I really cant say im surprised, but personally I think it was the wrong choice. But I cant say im bothered, I have 2.0 Final and many means of getting updates, but shhhh! ;)
*Ash laughs at the people who didn't believe us all those months ago.

*Markleshark joins Ash in that laughter
*Tee Hee from me as well. But, the sad part was that many were just lead along to believe all would be status quo.

Agreed.
I'm spending all my time trying to find a copy of 2.0 that was released for a day before they made the pay-only version.

this is another thing, because everyone now hates invision, most people who have a copy of the free 2.0 final trial, are willing to "help others" who dont have it, so invision dont gain any customres ^_^

The only thing that I don't like about vbulliten is that the support is only good for one year. For $160 it is kind of bad.

Its illegal to obtain files from anywhere other than directly from IPS/

If you have an IPB Liscense, and hand out those files IPS could revoke your liscense.
Sure, IPS isn't the nicest company to deal with, but pirating software is wrong any way you look at it.

Thats not true. With vBulletin you have lifetime support. It's just that with the owned license you need to pay $30 a year after a year to get updates. You can even wait till a version you want comes out to pay the $30...

If anyone for any reason needs IPB support, I am here... I have IPB 2.0.4 and doing an upgrade to 2.1 just to keep it going...
To be honest, I have never had any problems running my board or any downtime, as for customer support, I can't say that I was a victim as all of you were.
So in closing if you need or are looking for friendly, one on one support for IPB 2.0.4 or higher, look me up.
PS. I have studied the IPB code and CSS areas and there is a lot I can do with IPB, As wimpie might tell you if he has seen my testing site of 2.1. I have converted over three skins for a member here and it only cost $10 US dollars each.
Take care, I am here for anyone of IPB...
