Greetings,

I hate to bother you all with this, but I need a hand finding a decent template for a website I'm building. So far, searching the various template sites has shown that 9 out of 10 are offering the same sets of mass produced templates. None of them have anything that's done in a style that I can use.

What I need is something with a medieval theme (swords & sorcery type) done in colors that would mesh well with the Red Gel skin found here. (reds, blacks, greys, etc...)

You can visit my poor attempt at a site here. (http://www.roguesociety.net)

You can also visit the game site that mine is being set up for here. (http://www.shadowbane.com)

I'll set up the forum so you can look at it without having to register.

I'm one of those poor unfortunate souls who couldn't draw a realistic stick figure if my life depended on it. My coding skills aren't much better, I'm afraid.

The banner on the site was actually drawn by someone else. (I wish I had that kind of talent!)

Any help finding something that would work is much appreciated.

Before we start I love the game site intro its great.

What are you exactly after, do you have any idea of what you wish it to look like?
Will you be hopeing to extract any iformation from the forum onto the site?

Any more information would be a great help to all who might be able to help get your site off the ground and up and running.
You could end up with several people helping out to get this idea going with a little more info.

Chris,

The Guild I'm working on will be based on the Thieves' Band template, which you can see here. (http://shadowbane.ubi.com/Encyclopedia/GuildTypes/Thieves%27+Band.htm). I forgot to mention that in my last post. (I'm not actually affiliated with the publisher of the game, I'm just trying to put together a decent site for a Guild within the game)

The crest for that Guild type is red & black, which is one of the reasons I'm going with a red/black/grey theme to the site, and why I'm using the Red Gel skin on the boards.

Ideally, I'd like to be able to pull some info from the boards to the site, if I can do it. I've tried two different portals (The one used here, and another used at YAUWS (http://www.yauws.com). Neither worked properly, unfortunately :(

I'm looking for an overall theme that suggests dark, skulking places, where one would normally find the more disreputable types encountered in a band of thieves, assassins and such.

If any of you has ever read the RiftWar books by Raymond E. Feist, the Guild itself is patterned after the Mockers, which was the thieves guild that operated from the city of Krondor. (Think 'Jimmy the Hand') Dunno if that helps. Never hurts to try :)

Something similar to this page (http://www.roguesociety.net/test/lost/index.html) would be interesting.

This page (http://www.roguesociety.net/test/necromancer/index.html) has an interesting background on the right, but I really hate all of the lightning on it. Just ruins the look. (Both of these were templates I found elsewhere...)

I like the look of the first one, with the sword, etc.. on it. I'd love to be able to do something along that line that's more in line with the colors I want, and incorporate the Rogue Society masthead into it. It'd also be great to be able to add some elements where I could have news imported from the boards, etc.. like you did with your site.

Having some Flash in it would be cool, but I can live without it if it comes to that. The Flash menu I have now is nice eye candy, but since it comes from a free site with a generator, it has drawbacks. I don't like the idea of having to go to the site if I decide to change the links later, not to mention I'm hosed if the site goes away, since I don't have the .fla files.

I have Flash MX and Dreamweaver MX, as well as Photoshop 5.5. I can do some stuff here and there, but I just don't have the background to be able to make something that looks decent.

Having said all of that, ANYTHING would be better than what I have so far. Beggars can't be choosers, and I'm definately the beggar at this point!

You dont have to use a portal to be able to pull stats or news from the board. I havent used a portal on my site & have easily managed to get the news off the forum with a little hack from ibresources.

Let me have a play about when I get a bit of spare time and see what I can put together to at least give you a start.
Might take a while though.

Chris,

Time isn't really that big a deal at present. The game isn't scheduled for release until around March 25th, if I recall. When you get to it, you get to it :)

Thanks!

Vale nice job with the game site so far :D . A site to try out would be www.freelayouts.com (http://www.freelayouts.com) they have free layouts and alo proffesional layouts. A very handy service if i do say so myself :P Or you could try GUI stuff (http://www.guistuff.com) they are also very good with templates.
Cheers !! B)
