Is there a set of instructions that walks a person through (step by step) on how to install a skin MANUALLY on a vB board? These instructions would need to include information about safe mode also.
Is there a link for this somewhere?
We wanted to buy a few skins, but first we need to see what's involved with installing the skin manually since we need to install it ourselves. Thanks

Hiyer :) for vb? does that have safe mode issues? I was under the impression vb had no problem installing skins with safe mode on. There's no files there for the skins so couldn't do it that way either :S Did you try a search on vbulletin.com and .org?

Did you try a search on vbulletin.com and .org?Neither place had any skin install instructions :(
So I take it that there isn't anything here that explains how to install a skin manually either? We can't buy a skin until we first know what's involved with installing it...

Manually meaning? You mean import it via the Admin CP?
http://www.vbulletin.com/docs/html/main/style_upload
I've never been able to find any good tutorials on building a style from the ground up..

When we had the Invision board we noticed that not everyone could install them if they had safe mode turned on. I wrote an instrustion a few years ago which explained to the user how (step by step) how to install the new skins manually. M3NF posted it here for everyone to use. We are on the same server (with safe mode) so now we'll need to know how to install the new skin manually through the ACP, only this time for the vB skin.

I can assist you in that...
I have installed many skins for my testing vB and its quite simple really...
as seen here: http://www.nightfoxpcforums.net/vb3/forums/
Heres what you do...
1) First on the FTP side, create a folder for the skin your using..
In my example my files are on the ftp as this..
.../forums/geltechcobalt
2) Then upload any (folders) or (files) needed for that skin in that folder
3) Using the ACP Panel, Goto Styles & Templates, Download/Upload Styles
4) Choose to IMPORT STYLE and upload the XML file from your computer
5) Choose Ignore Style Version (YES) and click Import
This should work. Unless I did it backwards?? All I know it worked for me...
Hope this helps? Let me know either way.
