Have you seen a picture of a camel spider in Iraq? In the photo I saw, the spider looked about a foot long. An email said these venomous camel spiders can run 25 miles per hour. That's about the same top speed as a human sprinter with an Olympic gold medal. No ordinary person could outrun it.
Something else makes the camel spider of Iraq even more terrifying. When it runs, it makes an eerie noise that some people describe as sounding "like the screams of a human baby."
Another couple of internet "facts" about camel spiders: they can grab onto a camel's belly, shoot a numbing chemical in, then eat the camel's stomach without the camel even knowing the spider is there. Much, much worse— the foot-long monster can do pretty much the same thing to a soldier who is asleep, except they crawl onto and deaden the soldier's face, and then they eat that!
