This is nothin but a great move, adobe will sure to make the best suite around now, i once welcome this take over. Adobe have always in my eyes been the best at what they do and with this take over its looks like a new direction for them.

I have been seeing this all over the net and it has me wondering exactaly what is going on. As far as I knew Macromedia was a successfull company.

It wouldn't surprise me adobe taking over macromedia seeing as adobe are the second largest software company in the world. They are more than capable.

Seems like good news to me. Adobe have a very good track record, and I can't really see them going wrong in taking this company over.

Thats is exactaly my fear. Also you can say goodbye to fireworks, freehand and most likely dreamweaver since Adobe allready has their own products like those.

I don't think they will do away with existing products. (okay maybe Fireworks) But adobe have such a good track record (reason why they set the standard in their respected field) In my books, They can't go wrong.

@ Ed: There's Macromedia products which cost thousands as it stands now.

authorware 7 - 2169 Pounds
Coldfusion MX 7 - 4289 Pounds
Director MX - 959 Pounds

Guess who's bizack !!

Anyway it will be just like what they did with Cool Edit Pro / Adobe Audition...

But seeing something like adobe and dreamweaver mixed togetherin 1 app would be great

I think what they will do is like they did a while back with photoshop, use that as a main systems and allow export into other software direct within it, so if you wanted to add flash, flash would also be a package within adobe suite. That would allow adobe to expand without adding a huge tag to the price.

I think flash is the main reason adobe went after macromedia. However I dont see them keeping fireworks, freehand, and dreamweaver when they allready have products similiar. You can allready import adobe illustrator files directly into flash mx 2004 although some of the advanced features of Illustrator will not import possibly adobe will improve upon flash to allow this but it isnt economical to keep programs that basically do the same thing so I feel some will be discontinued. Adobe will have to decide wether they want to keep go live or go with dreamweaver I'm afraid.

It may have been best to just buy out Macromedia but keep all programmers and most regular staff and name at that company.

Things could continue to run smoothly, and Adobe still profits from macromedia

Isnt that the truth..........remember not that long ago Adobe sued Macromedia over using "pallettes" in their programs. So maybe that is part of their reason for acquiring.
