From 6:45 to 7:00 EST Saturday night, the biggest search portal on the Internet went down. There were reports that Google was having access issues prior to this found on message boards around the world, however, Google's home page was redirected to SoGoSearch.com for only a fifteen minute window. During this time, all other Google services such as GMail, Google News, and other pages were unavailable during this time also.
According to Google spokesperson David Krane, the outage was due to a DNS issue, although there has been a lot of speculation that Google was hacked. However, Google denies any hacking reports. "It was not a hacking or security issue. Google's global properties were unavailable for a short period of time. We've remedied the problem and access to Google has been restored worldwide", David Krane told the AP.
