View Full Version : Question about home server stuartmecham 06-Jun-2005, 11:35 PM I have set up a home server, and need to be able to put my IP (external ISP IP) to a domain name if you understand what i mean? Thanks Stuart Sprocket 07-Jun-2005, 02:51 PM do you mean you want to point your domain name at your server so that anyone visiting your domain will connect to your home server? if so you'll need a "Static" IP address from your ISP (around £5 amonth) which then you'll need to point your domain name at this IP address, i'm sure your ISP will fill you in on all the in's and out's.... Ash 07-Jun-2005, 05:12 PM Take a look at http://www.no-ip.com :) Derek 07-Jun-2005, 08:34 PM What I did, was went into my whm, added a DNS zone for the domain, pointed the nameservers to my nameservers and made a A name on my server that went to my home server. Hope this helps a bit. Derek stuartmecham 09-Jun-2005, 01:15 PM thanks guys.. all done now :) http://www.stuartsm.com wahoo for no-ip and XAMPP Derek 09-Jun-2005, 04:54 PM Cool Stu great job! |
