Shall we ban them from the database ?
Shall we sue them ?

Hmmm. well, fer a start, ban them, then...... contact them privately. Some peeps who have appeared to have ripped, have in fact done a manual install with little knowledge and forgot about it. Also then you get to hear their responce and can prepare to give them their notice! From there you can determine if s/he puts it back (thus unban him/her) or continue to the next stage.

If it is done on purpose, then a note on their board wouldn't go amis. It makes it then apparent to everyone and gives the "naughty" ripper what he deserves...being belittled. This has so far been 100% effective.

If that still doesn't work, you can advise them of your intention to contact their web host, if no luck there, contact their isp. (many of these companies have rules about copyright stealing etc.)

Further to that Its gonna be sueing their ---

And if that still doesn't work, send over the nukes! LMAO

Oh yer, with a little spamming and banning thrown in :D

Well i'd contact then first, and if they didn't know about not removing the copyrights and put it back, then fine but if they still refuse to put the copyright back then yes, ban them and send them an email stating that they have been banned form the forum and our still requiered to put the copyright back, if that fails, then send in a dedicated team of spammers to do there little bit.
if that didn't work, send in the script kiddies, :o :woot: :woot:

For me a polite word left on thier board was enough for them to see the errors of thier ways.

Although there are a few that do change the copyright on purpose & blantantly do it, I honestly feel that most are to green to realise what they have done.
The funniest one must be the member who actually asked in the support forum how to change it? LOL!!!!!! right under our noses, bad eh.
I had one I had to sort out & all they wanted to do was put a bit at the bottom of the forum stating they had set it up, but in doing so they had lost the copyright of the skin designer, it was a genuine mistake & resloved within a couple of hours of going over there and explaining the situation to them.
In fact I gave them the code to put back onto the skin to get it back in there.
I have since been back over there and everything is stil in place & the board is going on great. They were even asked who made the skin in one thread and they had put that it was downloaded from over here & by whom it was made.

Dont get me wrong I get damn annoyed when I hear someone has removed it but then Spamming brings you down to thier level if it was done on purpose, so not the best of idea's.

If you find anyone has ripped off a skin & are passing it as thier own work PM either me or the Admin & we will get it resolved.

it is both amusing and deeply annoying at the same time, For some reason I'm not that bothered if someone wants to rip a skin of mine and claim it as their own, I just find it a bit pitiful that they'd want to claim my middling to average work as theirs :D.

On a serious note I know I tend to have a fairly laid back attitude to these things but I can understand how others find it very annoying, another reason why I'm not overly judgemental is that my copy of photoshop is registered to fred flintstone and I can't abide double standards

Not just windows either.

It wasn't unheard of to pitch people from the battlements of a castle when they'd done something illegal, or during a seige.

I sort of prefer the idea of pitching them from the highest point of the castle, myself. Gives them a few more moments to think about their nefarious crimes against designers.

Of course, that's not going to be the last thing that goes through their mind. (Generally, that would be the sidewalk....)
